HTNA Traffic Calming Update - 2/4/19

Hi Hampton Terrace,
Happy New Year! Hampton Terrace Neighborhood Association has worked on traffic calming and overall improvement for Hampton Terrace for well over 12 years and hopefully the rest of the streets will be paved in 2019. The plans for the Traffic Calming measures on Idlewild Ave and thru-out HT will also be put into motion soon according to the City.
Also, HTNA would like to thank Mike Suarez with City Council. After 12 years of petitioning the City to help with the traffic problem here in Hampton Terrace, getting nothing but "NO THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE", Mr. Suarez was the about the only one in the City of Tampa to say "YES, I will help Hampton Terrace with the traffic and speeding issues.' Thanks Mike, we can't tell you what your support has meant!
Reached out to Jorge Uy with the Transportation Division - we have been working together for around 6 years now to get HT on the right path for traffic calming measures - and he sent me this update. HTNA will forward any other information that gets sent to us. If you have any questions please feel free to email HTNA at: Hamptonterraceneighborhoodassoc@yahoo.com.

From Jorge Uy:
"The Citywide Resurfacing contract is on the streets right now and we anticipate getting a contractor on board around Spring 2019. We should be ready to start on the project at that time.
Regarding the traffic calming, we are conducting a Traffic Studies investigation for all-way stop conditions at this time. Once we complete the evaluation, we will be able to finalize the traffic calming plans. We are also working on summarizing the traffic calming measures on a PowerPoint presentation that we will share with you shortly."

Yours in Community,
Dana Fortson Traffic Calming Chair HTNA
